"I am all women, I am every woman. Wherever women are suffering, I am there. Wherever women are struggling, I am there. Wherever women are fighting for their liberation I am there."
--from the CWLU founding conference
During the late 1960’s, the need for improvement in terms of women's liberation was necessary. Women were economically oppressed due to unequal pay for the same job as men. This is one of the key factors in influencing the Chicago Women's Liberation Union (CWLU). Due to the establishment of the CWLU, economic freedom, women's rights, and better communication and collaboration with other groups were achieved.
