Criticisms
During the time, the CWLU were considered radical. They were challenged on many issues:
- Were anti-capitalist, while most of the nation supported capitalism. They instead advocated for socialist feminism.
- Majorly supported abortion rights, while most believed abortion to be wrong.
- Advocated for gay/lesbian rights, which was heavily fought against by many organizations and churches. This is an issue that is still alive today.
The CWLU were also divided. Though called a union, they were "autonomous". They worked in individual groups on separate projects. They collapsed due to internal conflicts in 1977.
